Since late 2006 I have contracted to IBM on the DHS Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Automated Commercial Entry (ACE) program as a senior technical writer and junior Java programmer.
I collaborated with CBP and an integrated analysis and design team to record the processes and rules governing how foreign goods are admitted into the U.S. by air carrier. Now, at the end of my contract, I use Java with RAD/Eclipse and Dimensions/PVCS in a rapid development environment to search existing code, determine what updates are needed, and create software integration test scenarios.
In 2006 I contracted to Neustar, a provider of clearinghouse services to Telecommunications, Internet, VoIP, and Cable service providers. I wrote user guides covering different apsects of a new SIP Internet Exchange technology. The project required background research into the related IETF standards and in-depth interviews with senior scientists
In 2005 I managed the Advanced Technologies Marketing Program at Comstor, a distributor of Cisco networking and communications solutions. I developed a worldwide marketing plan that was adapted and implemented in the U.K. and Germany.
In 2003 and 2004 I provided contract services to CSC. I produced the training and administration manuals for the Java applications fielded by the DoD's Defense Information Services Agency (DISA) in its UNIX-based telecommunications network operations center.
