An early life interest in journalism quickly evolved into a passion for broadcast technology. I began my career in production at a combined Public Television and Radio station in Washington state, and later moved to CBS Radio in San Francisco.

After relocating to Northern Virginia, I was with Mutual Radio and then moved into directing industrial training videos.

In a career shift, I spent three years at General Electric editing and laying out software development lifecycle documents for U.S. Army personnel management systems. There, I was introduced to software development and computers and I knew this was where I wanted to spend my career.

For the next five years, I leveraged my publications,  editing and writing expertise at government contractors while I worked towards a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology. During that same period, I continued to freelance at WETA-TV as an associate producer of membership and as an audio producer for music concerts at the White House and Fourth of July concerts at the U.S. Capitol.

My goal when I received my advanced degree was to find a way to combine my passion for both communications and the rapidly growing field of computing. My experiences since then have been rich and enlightening. I have journeyed through the evolving telecommunications world from interactive television, to computer-telephone integration, and finally, converged network solutions for voice, data, video and content transmitted over the Internet.
